Dragon Professional Anywhere (DPA) and Dragon Anywhere Mobile (DAM) Implementation
Thank you for your interest in Dragon Professional Anywhere and Dragon Anywhere Mobile. The below information explains how to set the software up in all environments and contains links to the software required, in addition to setting up the software you will also need a registered email address to start using Dragon, if you have not yet registered and obtained these details, we recommend you do this first, using our end user registration form, the account(s) can then be setup whilst the software is installed.
Dragon Professional Anywhere (Desktop Application) - Getting Started
Dragon Professional Anywhere is distributed using two different methods, your organisation can use either or both depending on your environment and usage policies. Regardless of which method you choose Dragon Professional Anywhere only requires a small client footprint (< 200mb) and must be co-installed in the same environment as the applications you wish to dictate into. Dragon Professional Anywhere also also requires an 'always available' internet connection and unfiltered access to the recognition servers, for more technical information and/or virtualisation add-ons, see the Administrators guide and/or download options located on the official Dragon Professional Anywhere website.
Standalone Package (Recommended)
- Designed for all environments, including local Windows PC's.
- Does not require administrator privileges.
Standalone Package - Getting Started
Prior to downloading the Standalone Package, please take a few minutes to familiarise yourself with the installation process by watching the following video.
- Click the link above and choose to Download the package (top-left corner).
- Navigate to your Downloads folder in File Explorer.
- Locate the downloaded file, highlight it, right-click the file and select Properties.
- Place a tick into Unblock, click Apply followed by OK.
- Right-click the file again and choose Extract All.
- When prompted to choose a location for the extracted files, ensure the option for Show extracted files when complete is selected, and choose Browse.
- Select the Desktop folder on the left, followed by the Select Folder option.
- Once the location has been updated, select Extract.
- Once extracted, File Explorer will open your Desktop folder. Locate and open the Dragon Professional Anywhere folder.
- Locate the file called SoD (it has a Dragon Flame icon).
- Highlight and right-click the file, and choose Show more options.
- Select Send to > Desktop (create a shortcut).
- On your Desktop, you will now see an icon named SoD.exe - Shortcut, right click the icon/shortcut and rename it to Dragon Professional Anywhere.
- Finally, launch the software and login.
MSI Package (Designed for Advanced Users)
- Designed primarily for deployment, can be used for all environments.
- Requires administrator privileges.
MSI Package - Getting Started
The following link is for advanced users or IT administrators ONLY. Depending on the environment an understanding of deployment scripts may be required.
- Click the link above and choose to Download the package (top-left corner).
- Locate the downloaded file, highlight it, right-click the file and select Properties.
- Place a tick into Unblock, click Apply followed by OK.
- Right-click the file again and choose Extract All.
- Confirm the extraction location and click Extract.
- Inside the extracted folder, locate the install batch file.
- Right-click the batch file and choose Run as administrator.
- If Windows prompts you to allow the application to make changes, click Yes.
- When the installation finishes, a Dragon Professional icon will appear on your desktop.
- Finally, launch the software and login.
Nuance Dragon Web Extension
If you intend to use Dragon with an application embedded within a web browser you should install the Dragon Web Extension, we recomend using Google Chrome with the Dragon Web Extension if you have used the ClickOnce installer, and Microsoft Edge with the Dragon Web Extension if using Dragon v2022+. Dragon Anywhere Mobile (Smartphone Application) - Getting Started
If you do not wish to use the Dragon Anywhere Mobile dictation APP, you can skip this section.
Installation and Configuration
- Copy the following URL in its entirety.

- Search for, and install Dragon Anywhere Mobile.
- Open Dragon Anywhere Mobile on your device.
- Press the yellow Nuance logo 5 times to show the configuration dialog.
- Press UPDATE.
- Paste the URL copied in the first step.
- Click OK.
- Confirm the configuration by clicking ACCEPT.
- Enter your user details to login to the application.
